Job Description

Accounting AssistantRidgefield Park, NJ Own the money moving in and out of the business every day. In this role, you will run billing and collections, process vendor payments, and keep cash and the books accurate through month-end close. My client is landscaping company looking for a hands-on accounting assistant who enjoys the details and takes ownership of the work. Responsibilities

Prepare and process customer invoices accurately and on time
Monitor A/R aging and follow up on outstanding balances
Post customer payments and reconcile customer accounts
Research and resolve billing and payment discrepancies
Process vendor invoices, verify supporting documentation, and prepare vendor payments
Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
Monitor daily cash balances, track expected receipts and upcoming payments, and assist with cash flow forecasting
Perform bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
Maintain the general ledger, prepare journal entries, and reconcile accounts monthly
Maintain accurate customer and vendor records

Qualifications

4+ years of progressive accounting experience
Strong experience with A/R, A/P, billing, cash management, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting
Experience with month-end close
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statements
Proficiency with Excel and accounting or ERP systems
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
