Accounting & Finance Co-op

The ideal opportunity to be immersed within a corporate accounting team to gain exposure and hands on experience with all areas of operation.  Assist with preparation of timely and accurate financial reports/statements in accordance with statutory (SAP) and GAAP guidance.  The Accounting & Finance Co-op will assist with preparation of annual statement filings and the monthly book close as well as support the team with various projects, gaining insight into financial reporting.  

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly journal entries related to financial close

• Research accounts transactions and prepares various monthly reconciliations utilizing subledgers

• Assist with annual and quarterly regulatory filings including but not limited to preparing notes, tables and financial statements

• Assist with gathering information requested by auditors

• Participate in team meetings

• Special projects as assigned

Education, Requirements & Competencies

• Must be a current student working towards a degree in Accounting 

• Coursework and project experience in accounting principles is a must

• Analytical drive, with attention to details

• Strong communication skills (written and verbal); ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.

• Solid organizational and time-management skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software is preferred.

• This is a paid Co-op, offering $24 – $26 per hour based on experience.
