Full-Time | Birmingham, AL

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to join our accounting team. This position will provide day-to-day accounting support while serving as the primary backup to the Accounting & HR Manager. The ideal candidate will have strong Accounts Receivable experience and be able to contribute immediately with minimal training beyond learning our internal systems.

Responsibilities

  • Process customer invoices and maintain Accounts Receivable records
  • Apply customer payments and reconcile customer accounts
  • Monitor aging reports and assist with collections as needed
  • Match purchase orders to vendor invoices and forward approved invoices through the Accounts Payable workflow
  • Assist with daily cash receipts, deposits, and account reconciliations
  • Enter accounting transactions accurately and maintain organized financial records
  • Support month-end closing activities and other accounting projects
  • Cross-train to provide backup support for the Accounting & HR Manager
  • Serve as backup for payroll processing during absences or peak periods
  • Assist with additional accounting and administrative duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience
  • Strong Accounts Receivable experience required
  • Experience matching purchase orders to invoices and processing invoices preferred
  • Payroll experience or the willingness to learn payroll processing as a backup
  • Ability to work independently and become productive quickly with training on company systems
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
  • Manufacturing accounting experience is a plus
