Role Summary

The Accounting Manager is responsible for leading client accounting engagements, developing accounting team members, and serving as a trusted advisor to both clients and internal stakeholders. This role balances technical accounting expertise, people leadership, and operational excellence to ensure exceptional client service and accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex business challenges, improving processes, developing others, and helping clients make better business decisions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee client accounting activities, including bookkeeping, reporting, review procedures, technology utilization, and value-added service recommendations
  • Manage, coach, and develop accounting team members to ensure high-quality client service, accurate financial reporting, and continued professional growth
  • Lead client onboarding, including software integration, data migration, process setup, and overall new client experience
  • Lead and manage technical accounting needs, including M&A transactions, GAAP accounting where required, purchase accounting, audit support, lease accounting, and technical research as needed
  • Manage complex accounting projects and client initiatives, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to successfully execute deliverables and solve business challenges
  • Analyze financial reports and records to ensure transactions are recorded appropriately and financial statements are accurate and meaningful
  • Perform reconciliations, analysis, troubleshooting, and other accounting support within client accounting systems as needed
  • Manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, client-service environment
  • Evaluate and recommend technology solutions that improve efficiency, reporting accuracy, internal operations, and the overall client experience
  • Stay informed of industry trends and best practices, consulting clients on opportunities to optimize their accounting processes
  • Identify and implement process improvements that streamline internal operations, improve team efficiency, and elevate the accounting function
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and developing accounting team members as the firm continues to grow

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of accounting, financial reporting, and client service experience, with experience managing and developing a team of accountants
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and other accounting principles
  • Experience supporting complex accounting matters such as audits, acquisitions, technical accounting research, or financial system implementations preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships, solve client challenges, and develop team members
  • Strong project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and client engagements simultaneously
  • Experience with cloud-based accounting technologies and tools such as QBO, Xero, Expensify, or similar platforms
  • Entrepreneurial and solutions-oriented mindset with proven experience leveraging technology, automation, and process improvements to increase efficiency, improve reporting accuracy, and enhance the client experience
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a commitment to accuracy and quality
