Essential duties:
- Oversee all accounting operations for the Museum and Foundation, including general ledger, payables/receivables, cash management, and reconciliations.
- Lead the full financial close and reporting cycle (monthly, quarterly, annual), ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP.
- Prepare and present financial statements and analysis for internal leadership, Board reporting, and external stakeholders.
- Partner cross-functionally to support budgeting, forecasting, and decision-making, including variance analysis across programs, exhibits, research, and operations.
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, audits, and required filings (including Form 990).
- Lead and develop the accounting team while driving process and systems improvements, enhancing efficiency, reporting capabilities, and scalability.
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a complex or nonprofit environment.
- 2+ years of experience supervising or leading professional staff.
- Experience working with integrated financial systems/ERP platforms.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
