Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Accounting Manager oversees the accounting department, managing daily operations, staff, internal controls and financial reporting.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Takes responsibility for the accuracy of general ledger, including recording or reviewing all journal entries, ensuring account reconciliations are prepared timely and reviewing results for anomalies.
  • Manages accounting team responsible for payroll, accounts payable, project accounting and cash receipts. Leads and develops team, including mentoring and coaching.
  • Maintains robust internal controls and policies and procedures for accounting transactions. Ensures compliance with GAAP and federal regulations.
  • Evaluates business processes for effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Serves as primary contact with the external accounting firm responsible for the annual audit. Provides information necessary to complete the annual 990 filing.
  • Prepares monthly financial reports for leadership and financial analysis for department leaders. Responsible for ad hoc reporting needs.
  • Assists with the preparation of the annual budget.
  • Tracks and monitors progress on annual team goals and projects. Prioritizes requests and can communicate the status of projects regularly. Assists in developing annual goals.
  • Provides support to the Finance Director as needed.

Finally, the ability to apply the depth of knowledge maintained and gained through this process in real life scenarios as appropriate.

Showing the ability to meet difficult situations with grace, professionalism, and understanding. Within your area of expertise, showing respect and showing empathy where appropriate with your colleagues, patients, and their family at all times, even when its most difficult to do so. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises the Accounting team

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree, and 5 years of experience
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred

SCHEDULE:

Regular attendance on-site is an essential function of this position. Typical business hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (or flexed to best meet the needs of the clients and/or the Division); 40 hours per workweek; weekend, holiday, or evening coverage is occasionally required. Work hours will need to be flexible in order to respond to special work assignments, or evening activities, as requested by the team leader.
