Job Description

We support growing businesses across the Bay Area with strategic and hands-on financial and HR expertise that help‑ organizations scale with confidence.We are looking for an experienced, proactive, systems-oriented Accounting Managerto lead our accounting team ensuring consistent, high-quality client service delivery. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of leadership and execution.This is a hybrid role with the expectation of working at our San Rafael, CA office every Monday and every other Wednesday, and available to meet with clients in person as needed.What You’ll Do
- Lead, manage, and mentor a growing team of accounting and financial consultants.
- Oversee team onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development for scalable, consistent, and high-quality‑ client service delivery.
- Maintain accountability across the team for timesheets, PTO, deliverables, and cross functional communication.
- Lead the adoption, optimization, and consistent use of systems and tools (e.g., Asana) to improve workflow efficiency and operational execution.
- Proactively identify and resolve operational challenges impacting team performance, utilization, and service delivery.
- Partner with Sales to appraise new clients, evaluating scope, complexity, and alignment with team capabilities.
- Evaluate team capacity and workload allocation to ensure optimal utilization, proactively identifying bandwidth constraints, and adjusting resources to meet client demands.
- Ensure smooth client onboarding and transitions that balance growth objectives with team sustainability.
- Deliver strategic financial leadership aligning accounting operations with broader business objectives, translating financial goals into practical, day-to-day‑ accounting services.
- Maintain hands-on‑ client involvement to support quality, continuity, and relationship confidence.
- Provide client coverage during periods of transition, leave, or resource constraints to ensure continuity and client confidence.
- 6-8 years of progressive staff accountant experience.
- 3-4 years leading, mentoring, and developing a high performing team.
- Proven experience delivering financial consulting or client services to mid-size businesses in various industries, providing both strategic and hands-on accounting work.
- Comfort working in modern financial systems and platforms, able to quickly learn new tools.
- Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills; able to prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent communicator able to manage up, down, and across teams, influencing stakeholders at all levels.
- Solutions-oriented leader, able to coach with clarity, patience and accountability.
- Collaborative, proactive team player with a problem-solving‑ mindset.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office & Excel; familiarity with project management tools; experience with Asana is a plus.
- Demonstrated professionalism and integrity in maintaining confidentiality of all corporate, financial, and client information.
- Eligible to work in the U.S. and within commuting distance of San Rafael, CA.
