Job Description

Who We Are:

At Perry Weather, we’re trusted by top organizations like the PGA of America, the Dallas Cowboys, Turner Construction, and Major League Baseball to automate weather safety operations and mitigate risk. As one of the fastest-growing technology companies in Texas and a recognized Great Place to Work, we're headquartered in Dallas's vibrant Oak Lawn neighborhood, right at The Centrum on the corner of Oak Lawn and Cedar Springs.

As we scale, we are evolving a finance function that matches the ambition and pace of our business - one grounded in operational rigor, powered by modern technology, and led by people who think strategically about how financial infrastructure creates competitive advantage.

We are seeking an Accounting Manager who is more than a steward of the close - someone who is curious, inventive, and energized by the challenge of building scalable systems in a high-growth environment. This role sits at the intersection of technical accounting excellence and organizational leadership, and will have a meaningful voice in shaping how Perry Weather operates financially for years to come.

The Opportunity:

This is a high-impact, high-visibility role for an accounting leader who thrives on solving hard problems and is not content with “the way things have always been done.” You will own the accounting and close processes end-to-end, and more importantly, you will reimagine them where needed. You will also serve as the internal champion for Perry Weather’s ERP implementation, partnering with leadership to configure and deploy a system that supports our next phase of growth.

If you are the kind of accountant who asks “why does this step exist” and then engineers a better answer, this role was written for you.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Process Design & Close Efficiency

  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycle — with a mandate to continuously reduce cycle time without sacrificing accuracy.
  • Critically evaluate every step in the close and accounting workflow; eliminate low-value tasks, automate repeatable processes, and engineer smarter handoffs between functions.
  • Develop and document a close calendar with clearly defined milestones, owners, and escalation paths to drive accountability and predictability.
  • Proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks before they become recurring issues, turning pain points into permanent improvements.
  • Build a culture of continuous improvement on the accounting team — where every cycle is an opportunity to do it better than the last.

ERP Implementation Leadership

  • Serve as a critical lead for Perry Weather’s ERP system implementation, partnering with the CFO, operations, and technology stakeholders.
  • Drive requirements gathering across the finance function; translate accounting and reporting needs into system configuration decisions.
  • Manage the implementation timeline and vendor relationship, coordinating internal resources and holding external partners accountable to milestones.
  • Own the data migration strategy, chart of accounts design, and go-live readiness — ensuring a clean cutover with minimal operational disruption.
  • Design post-implementation reporting structures and controls that make the new system a durable asset rather than a costly liability.

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Oversee preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, management reports, and forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and all applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform and review key reconciliations (bank, balance sheet, intercompany) and ensure all accounts are substantiated at close.
  • Translate financial data into actionable insights — communicating results and risks clearly to senior leadership.

Accounting Operations

  • Direct daily accounting activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and invoicing for new and existing clients.
  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger; ensure clean, well-organized books that support both operational and audit needs.
  • Design and maintain a robust internal controls framework to safeguard assets and prevent errors and fraud.

Tax & Compliance

  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of all tax obligations — corporate, sales, and payroll — across all active states.
  • Monitor state tax nexus as the company expands and proactively manage new registration requirements.
  • Stay current on evolving financial regulations and translate regulatory changes into operational updates.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Audit

  • Partner with FP&A and senior leadership in developing the annual budget and rolling forecasts.
  • Conduct variance analysis and surface early signals — distinguishing noise from meaningful trends and recommending corrective action.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, serving as the primary point of contact and ensuring audit readiness year-round.
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies for key financial exposures.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and grow accounting staff; foster a team culture built on accuracy, ownership, and intellectual curiosity.
  • Define clear roles and performance expectations; review work and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, operations, and customer success to support business initiatives and improve financial data quality at the source.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. CPA or CMA strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial or senior individual contributor role.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or playing a significant role in an ERP implementation or system migration.
  • Proven track record of redesigning accounting or close processes to drive efficiency — not just executing them.
  • Deep knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks, Acumatica, NetSuite, SAP, or similar).
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Self-starter who operates with high autonomy and brings solutions, not just status updates.
  • Exceptionally detail-oriented, with a strong sense of ownership and pride in the quality of the work.
  • Strong analytical thinker who can move between the details and the bigger picture with ease.
  • Clear, confident communicator who can translate financial complexity for non-finance audiences.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Experience in subscription software (B2B SaaS) or high-growth companies is a meaningful plus.
  • Located in DFW; this role is in-office full-time at our Oak Lawn, Dallas office.

Benefits

  • Collaborative, in-person culture. Everyone works in-office Monday–Friday, which helps us move fast, solve problems together, and build a culture that’s genuinely fun and connected.
  • Comprehensive benefits. Competitive health, dental, and vision plans, 401(k) with employer matching, and a suite of voluntary benefits to support your health, well-being, and financial future.
  • Good people, good times. Monthly All-Hands, Office Olympics, happy hours, and more. We take the work seriously and the culture seriously too.
  • You're getting in early, and that matters. We're growing fast, but the biggest opportunities are still ahead. The people joining now will help shape what Perry Weather becomes.
  • High ownership and real impact. Your fingerprints will be on systems and processes that shape the company for years to come.

Note: We value in-person collaboration; therefore, remote work is not an option. This role is fully onsite, Monday – Friday.
