Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE: 

Quest Safety Products, Inc. is searching for an Accounting Manager to manage general accounting functions including accounts receivable/payable, fixed assets, and credit management. A top candidate is an individual who can combine their technical expertise with a strategic vision, leadership skills, and industry knowledge. LOCATION: On-site at5720 W. Minnesota Street Indianapolis, IN 46241 (8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with lunch break).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Leadership

  • Manage the general accounting functions including accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, and credit management.
  • Advise management team on new legislation, anticipate future legislation, enforce compliance, and file financial reports.
  • Develop strong working relationships with Operations and Sales teams; influence good business decisions.
  • Represent the organization at various business meetings and functions; promote existing and new programs and/or policies.

Budget and Profitability

  • Monitor and confirm financial condition by conducting audits and analyses, and by supporting and providing information to external auditors.
  • Assist in preparing and directing the budget for the organization; develop and maintain other planning and control procedures and analyze and report variances.
  • Analyze trends, costs, revenues, and financial commitments incurred to forecast future accounts payable, accounts receivable, and expenses.

Month-End Close

  • Conduct and oversee fiscal period close procedures and processes.
  • Coordinate and participate in the development, preparation, analysis, and interpretation of financial information, operational trends, and accounting procedures to assist senior management’s decision-making.

Financial Statements

  • Work with CFO, President, and divisional managers to ensure the accuracy of costs allocated to each entity, division, and work unit.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements by division and reporting entity following GAAP and company policies.

Cycle Count

  • Input daily cycle count results into ERP and calculate the year-to-date accuracy percentages.
  • Work with the operations manager to organize and facilitate daily cycle counts and the annual full-inventory count 

Cost Savings

  • Provide cost-effective and innovative solutions to streamline and enhance current day-to-day operations, accounting procedures or processes, and reconcile issues.
  • Audit pricing and develop pricing tools to support company profitability guidelines.

Process Improvement

  • Enhance and improve financial reporting and assist in improving service, revenue, and profit.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting, finance, or an equivalent field
  • Proficiency in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Proficiency in inventory cost accounting, tax compliance, and the preparation of financial statements
  • Leadership and team-building skills that will aid in coaching and mentoring employees
  • Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing business environments and regulatory landscapes
  • Maintain effective working relationships and exhibit a professional demeanor in dealing with others
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and vendors; negotiate as necessary, and effectively communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good understanding of liens, Dunn & Bradstreet, and other credit best practices
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality regarding any financial, proprietary, or private information
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced knowledge of Excel, including financial modeling and data analysis
  • Understanding of data governance and the ability to manage large volumes of financial data

·         Experience:

    • 5+ years directly related to standard accounting practices, financial analysis, and budgetary control
    • Setting and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs)
    • Working with a large ERP
    • Leading and managing change, especially during periods of rapid growth or transformation

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of the distribution industry
  • Knowledge of management principles, human resource practices, and employee relations
  • Experience working in Epicor Prophet 21
  • Experience with software implementation and/or AP automation
  • CPA with past public accounting experience; CMA and CFA are also highly valued
