About the Role:

The Accounting Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the accounting team, including month-end close, AR/AP and Treasury functions, ensuring compliance with RunBuggy's accounting policies and US GAAP. This role provides leadership and mentoring to staff accountants and supports the Controller on special projects, including management reporting, AI adoption and process improvement, cross-functional system and product changes, contract review and financial statement audits.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Oversees monthly and annual close cycles, including coordination with other departments.
  • Prepares and reviews journal entries and account reconciliations; investigates and resolves reconciling items.
  • Compiles financial reports and analyze trends and variances in account activity.
  • Performs Treasury functions including preparing electronic payments.
  • Analyzes outstanding receivables and support collections activities.
  • Recommends and implements workflow and automation improvements (including AI-enabled tooling) to drive efficiency and data accuracy.
  • Develops accounting policies and enhances documentation of accounting processes.
  • Supervises, develops, and trains staff accountants, including cross-training within the team and managing performance.
  • Assists with the annual financial statement audit and other compliance requirements.
  • Supports special projects and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

What You Bring to the Team by Way of Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or similar required.
  • 5+ years of related accounting experience, including AP/AR and general ledger, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead capacity.
  • Experience participating in financial statement audits. Public accounting experience a plus.
  • NetSuite experience a plus.
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn new systems and tools, including emerging AI-enabled accounting technologies.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Experience in automotive, logistics , or transportation businesses a plus.

Certificates, Licenses, and/or Registrations:

  • CPA a plus.
  • NetSuite certifications a plus.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • 1-3 direct reports.
  • This position reports to the Controller.

Working Conditions:

  • Standard office environment.
  • Hybrid schedule with in-office presence at the Tempe location expected; remote work available for candidates in Pacific or Mountain time zones.
  • Occasional extended hours during month-end close, quarter-end, and year-end audit periods.
