Accounting Manager Manufacturing / DefensePosition Title: Accounting Manager Manufacturing / DefenseLocation: On-site Tampa, FLIndustry: Government / Defense / ManufacturingCompensation: Up to $135/hour (based on experience)Employment Type: Contract-to-HireJoin a growing organization supporting critical programs across commercial, defense, and aerospace sectors where accuracy, accountability, and operational excellence directly impact mission success.We are seeking an Accounting Manager to lead core financial operations and ensure the integrity, compliance, and scalability of accounting processes in a highly regulated environment. Reporting to the Controller, this role will partner closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to deliver reliable financial insights while strengthening internal controls aligned with CAS, FAR, and DFAR requirements. - Lead all core accounting functions including General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Cost Accounting, Fixed Assets, Payroll, and Tax
- Own the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and audit readiness
- Prepare and review financial statements and reporting packages, delivering clear and reliable insights to leadership
- Partner with operational and functional teams to provide financial guidance and improve decision-making
- Supervise, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team aligned with business growth
- Review T&E reporting, AP check runs, and payroll processing to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Strengthen and maintain internal controls, including ERP system governance (Deltek Costpoint preferred)
- Ensure compliance with CAS, FAR, DFAR, and GAAP standards across all accounting activities
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and cost-saving opportunities
- Research and resolve complex accounting issues with a solutions-oriented mindset
- Support audits and maintain readiness in a regulated, defense-focused environment
- Drive continuous improvement across processes, systems, and reporting capabilities
- Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong working knowledge of CAS, FAR, and DFAR regulations
- Deep experience with General Ledger and financial reporting
- Proven leadership experience building and developing teams
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- CPA or CMA certification
- Experience across AP, AR, and Payroll functions
- ERP experience (Deltek Costpoint strongly preferred)
- ERP implementation, optimization, or system enhancement experience
- Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, or business integrations
- Travel: 5 10% (occasional international exposure)
- Work Environment: Office setting with periodic interaction in manufacturing environments
- Requirements: Background investigation, drug screen, and U.S. Person status required
