Accounting Manager

A dynamic and rapidly growing proffesional services company is seeking an Accounting Manager to join their finance team. This hands-on role owns financial statement preparation and the month end close, including accounts payable and accounts receivable, with a smaller portion of time dedicated to payroll. It is a great fit for an accounting professional who wants ownership of the close and visibility with senior finance leadership, without the responsibility of managing a team.

Responsibilities

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement, with accurate and timely commentary on key variances and trends.

Own the month end close process, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and review of the AP and AR sub ledgers to ensure they tie to the general ledger.

Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable activity at the close, ensuring invoices are coded and recorded accurately, cash is applied correctly, and aging balances are reviewed and addressed.

Dedicate approximately 10% of time to payroll, including processing or reviewing payroll runs, reconciling payroll to the general ledger, and recording related accruals and liabilities.

Maintain and strengthen internal controls and close procedures, identifying opportunities to streamline processes and improve accuracy.

Support budgeting, ad hoc analysis, and external audit requests with clear schedules and documentation, and ensure compliance with GAAP.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required, CPA required. Or substantial progress towards certification.

Hands-on experience owning month end close and preparing full financial statements.

Working knowledge of AP, AR, and payroll processes and how they flow through the general ledger.

Proficiency in Excel and experience with accounting or ERP software (NetSuite, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar).

Highly organized, detail oriented, and comfortable working independently and meeting recurring deadlines.

Clear communicator who can explain financial results to leadership and collaborate across departments.
