We are seeking an Accounting Specialist - External Reporting to join our collaborative and customer‑centric Finance organization. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accuracy, transparency, and integrity across Itron's external reporting processes. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, agile in a dynamic environment, proactive in using innovative tools-including AI-and energized by cross‑functional collaboration.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparation of SEC Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and other required external reports with accountability, accuracy, and a customer‑centric mindset.
  • Support preparation of earnings releases, proxy statements, sustainability reporting, and census reports, ensuring clarity and consistency with Itron's authentic communication standards.
  • Maintain clean, accurate, and complete supporting workpapers that reflect strong organizational discipline.
  • Contribute to cash flow statement preparation with analytical rigor and attention to detail.
  • Gather, analyze, and summarize financial data to support management decision‑making, driving agile and collaborative insights.
  • Serve as system administrator for Workiva and PFX, supporting innovative reporting solutions.
  • Act as a liaison with external auditors and internal partners to support control walkthroughs, SOX testing, and overall audit coordination with professionalism and integrity.
  • Support annual goodwill impairment analysis and quarterly/annual pension accounting processes.
  • Coordinate quarterly certification processes, ensuring timely, accurate, and accountable reporting.
  • Research, document, and apply technical accounting guidance and SEC regulations, demonstrating strong judgment and authenticity.
  • Assist with acquisitions, dispositions, and valuations, demonstrating agile thinking and analytical depth.
  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative working relationships across the organization through proactive and authentic communication.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years of related accounting or financial reporting experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
  • CPA required.
  • Strong analytical, technical, and organizational skills with an accountable and customer‑centric approach.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines in an agile environment.
  • Demonstrated integrity, objectivity, and professionalism when working with sensitive information.
  • Proficiency in gathering, analyzing, and summarizing financial data to support decision‑making.
  • Resourceful, proactive, and committed to continuous improvement-including innovative use of AI where applicable.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Public accounting or SEC reporting experience.
  • Familiarity with Workiva and XBRL tagging.
  • Experience with Oracle or similar ERP systems, and tools such as EPM Smartview Reporting tool.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills supporting agile execution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating authenticity and collaborative partnership.
  • Strong professional skepticism and high ethical standards.

The successful candidate's starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills and experience and may vary by location. The base salary is $75,000-141,000 annually.
