Job Description

Accounting Specialist (AR/AP)

St. Louis, MO (4 days onsite / Friday remote)

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist (AR/AP) to support day-to-day accounting operations in a growing, team-oriented environment. This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys process accuracy, collaboration, and contributing to operational excellence.

This position plays an important role in maintaining financial accuracy, supporting vendor relationships, and ensuring smooth transactional workflows as the organization continues to expand.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable

  • Review, code, and process vendor invoices in accordance with company policies

  • Perform two-way matching of invoices to purchase orders

  • Resolve invoice discrepancies with vendors and internal stakeholders

  • Prepare and execute payment runs (check, ACH, and electronic payments)

  • Reconcile vendor statements and maintain accurate AP aging

Accounts Receivable

  • Support invoicing processes and monitor incoming payments

  • Assist with collections follow-up as needed

  • Maintain accurate customer account records

Accounting & Operations Support

  • Assist with month-end close activities including reconciliations, accruals, and reporting

  • Support audit requests by providing documentation and transaction detail

  • Create and maintain purchase orders to support operational needs

  • Assist with inventory reporting and reconciliation

  • Maintain accurate documentation and organized financial records

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in accounts payable and/or accounts receivable

  • Experience working in a high-volume transaction environment

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines

  • Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables and lookup functions preferred)

  • Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks (ERP experience a plus)

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to work onsite in St. Louis 4 days per week
