ACCOUNTING SUPERVISOR

DIRECTOR'S OFFICE

HELENA, MT

The Accounting Supervisor leads and develops a team of accounting professionals by providing training, mentorship, and daily workflow oversight while ensuring strong internal controls and consistent compliance. This role is responsible for conducting internal control checks, monitoring accuracy, and maintaining the integrity of financial processes across the unit.

This position oversees the agency's accounts payable and receivable functions, as well as specialized accounting related to payments for contract secure beds. The ideal candidate brings thorough knowledge of GAAP and internal controls, strong communication skills, proven problem‑solving abilities, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and a commitment to high‑quality accounting practices.

QUALIFICATIONS

The knowledge, skills and abilities for this position are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to:

  • Bachelor's degree with a major in accounting

  • Two years of accounting experience

  • Two years of experience supervising staff

Alternative combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
