Job Description
Join our growing construction company as an integral part of the financial team. You'll be leading the essential accounting operations, working closely with executive leadership and project managers. This role is perfect for those who thrive on direct involvement in day-to-day accounting while contributing to strategic project growth and success.
With a deep understanding of construction accounting, you'll manage crucial areas like job costing, work-in-progress analysis, and project-focused financial management. Your expertise will support the precision of our financial records and drive improvements in our accounting practices, ensuring the company's financial health aligns with our expanding goals.
Primary Duties:
- Oversee and execute daily financial tasks, including ledger activities, account reconciliations, payroll, and financial statement preparation. - Spearhead month-end and year-end closing activities ensuring adherence to GAAP and internal guidelines. - Collaborate with leadership on financial reporting and analysis, offering insights to drive strategic decisions.
Construction and Project Financial Management:
- Accurately manage job costing and produce detailed work-in-progress reports. - Engage with project teams to evaluate financial performance and budget adherence. - Investigate financial variances and provide actionable recommendations to enhance profitability.
Financial Strategy Support:
- Facilitate budget planning, forecasting processes, and cash flow management. - Identify potential financial risks and propose efficiency-enhancing financial strategies.
Enhancement of Financial Processes:
- Optimize accounting processes and strengthen internal controls. - Partner with external auditors and financial service providers for compliant and efficient operations. - Lead the ongoing development of our ERP/accounting systems to meet evolving business needs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent. - 5–10+ years of specialized accounting experience, notably within construction or project-based environments. - Mastery in job costing, WIP reporting, and project accounting. - Proficient in accounting software like Sage 300, Viewpoint, or similar systems. - Able to multitask effectively with strong problem-solving abilities.
Valuable Experience:
- Experience in HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, or general contracting sectors. - Ability to manage finances across multiple concurrent construction projects. - CPA or CMA qualifications are welcome but not mandatory.
