What is this career opportunity?

The Statewide Accounting Daily Operations Section is a team of 7 accountants and accounting technicians at the center of accounting for Montana state government. We are seeking an accounting technician with excellent soft skills to join our team! Your responsibilities would include:

  • Delivering technical assistance to state agencies regarding suppliers, payment processing, and accounts payable

  • Researching and documenting payment issues

  • Maintaining supplier accounts

  • Assisting with stale date check processing and reconciliations

  • Performing various other accounting transactions related to payment replacements and cancellations

  • Assisting both internal and external customers over the phone and in writing with payment and other miscellaneous questions

What are we looking for?

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent AND

  • Two years of job-related experience OR

  • Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail

  • Apply critical thinking to problem solve

  • Communicate effectively and diplomatically, both verbally and in writing, with other staff members, agencies, and members of the public

  • Follow policies and procedures, as well as identify operational efficiencies

  • Prioritize workload and juggle multiple tasks throughout the workday

  • Plan, organize, gather information, and conduct research
