Accounts Receivable Clerk

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THIS JOB (Summary)Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Accounts Receivable Clerk supports the organization's accounts receivable and accounting functions by processing payments, maintaining customer account records, collating and compiling data required for invoicing, monitoring outstanding balances, assisting with collections, and resolving routine billing and payment discrepancies.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESGENERAL DUTIES· Process and post customer payments accurately and promptly· Prepare and distribute customer invoices and account statements· Apply cash, checks, ACH, credit card, and other payments to customer accounts· Monitor outstanding accounts receivable balances· Follow up on overdue invoices and document collection activities· Reconcile customer accounts and investigate discrepancies· Research billing errors, short payments, duplicate payments, and unapplied cash· Process authorized credit memos, adjustments, and refunds· Maintain accurate customer account and payment information· Compile, collate and reconcile data required for invoicing timeously· Prepare accounts receivable aging reports· Assist with month-end accounts receivable reconciliation and closing activities· Respond to customer inquiries concerning invoices, payments, and balances· Maintain appropriate documentation and accounting records· Work with Finance, Accounting, Project Controls and other departments to resolve account issues· Perform data entry and general accounting and administrative duties as requiredHEALTH AND SAFETY· Work in compliance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations for Subsurface Energy Resources· Be aware of any health and safety hazards or infractions and report same to Health and Safety DepartmentRELEVANT COMPUTER APPLICATIONS· Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook· Adobe Acrobat· JD Edwards Accounting SystemQUALIFICATIONS· High school diploma or equivalent· 3 years accounts receivable office experience· Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Other Microsoft applications· Experience working in with accounting or ERP systems is preferredSKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES· Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy· Analyse data, think critically and solve problems· Computer literacy and willingness to learn· Ability to stay engaged and productive in routine or process-driven tasks· Strong written and verbal communication skills· Ability to work independently and as part of a team· Good organizational and time-management skills· Deadline driven
