Job Description:
This position works in a hospital, clinic, or long term care facility and is primarilyresponsible for directing an activity program to meet the patients/residents social,recreational, physical, educational and spiritual needs by using meaningful activity. TheActivity Programs are used to enable the patients/residents to function and maintaintheir dignity and fullest mental and physical capacity for as long as possible. Theseprograms are also used to enhance the patients/residents feelings of usefulness andencourage self-confidence, self-respect, and empowerment. The position also isresponsible for assessment, program development, performance improvement, budgetdevelopment/monitoring, and personnel management. The position may be required towork on shifts, including evenings, and weekends and holidays.Requirements:Experience and Essential Knowledge and Abilities: Three (3) year of workexperience as a Activities Coordinator which involved the planning, assessing, andcoordinating a comprehensive Activity Program to enhance the patients/residentssocial, recreational, physical, educational and any other needs; human anatomy;administrative practices and procedures in directing patient/resident activityprograms and treatment procedures in a hospital or other medically oriented institution or program; budget preparation; and the ability to read, write, speak, andunderstand and communicate effectively with others in English; supervise anddirect the work of subordinates and plan and conduct training programs.Certification Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Workers.Drivers License: Require a valid Drivers License.

AGENCIES MUST USE THE HHSC TIMECARDS LOCATED IN THE FACILITY PROFILE AS THIS HOSPITAL GOES BY AN 80 HR IN A 2 WEEK PERIOD TO DETERMINE ACTUAL HOURS/OT ETC.
The orientation days. The first day of training would consist of HR orientation, (fingerprinting, reviewing policies and procedures, ID badge, etc.), safety orientation, risk & quality management orientation, in-services/education (Code of conducts, etc.), and I.T. orientation. The second day will be focused on electronic medical record (EMR) training.
The training on day one begins at 10 am with HR (or designee) then safety orientation follows so on and so forth.
