Job Description
Summary
Faculty at NAU are responsible for curricular oversight and the delivery of quality education to NAU students. They are directly responsible for the delivery of the approved curricula and other matters as assigned in accordance with the mission, core values, and purposes of the university.
Minimum Qualifications
The Adjunct Faculty must satisfy the following minimum qualifications:
- Education as required by the Faculty Qualifications Handbook; and
- Two years of college-level online teaching experience is preferred.

- Teaching/instruction skills.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong user-level computer software skills.
Essential Functions
The Adjunct Faculty performs the following essential functions:
- Provides instruction and all aspects of teaching of approved curricula as outlined in the university's master syllabus.
- Recommends curriculum changes based on industry needs.
- Attend continuing education programs and seminars to maintain industry knowledge and skills.
- Works with the Curriculum, Assessment and Persistence Committee as needed to review, assess, develop, and oversee curricular changes.
- Administers assessment instruments as requested.
- Maintains accurate attendance and academic records for students.
- Participates in faculty meetings and professional development meetings.
- Completes required compliance trainings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Work Hours
Adjunct faculty schedules may consist of both daytime and evening hours. The maximum
number of contact hours an adjunct faculty may be scheduled for is 29 contact hours or less per week. Time commitments will vary by the number and types of courses assigned and the number of students enrolled in each course.
Reporting and Supervisory Responsibilities
- Adjunct Faculty will report to a Lead Faculty or a Dean/Associate Dean.
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Physical Requirements
The Adjunct Faculty must be able to speak, hear, read, see, write, type, and text.

No travel required.
