Adjunct Faculty (Lab) - Surgical Technology

Herzing University is in need of part-time faculty to facilitate Labs for the Surgical Technology students on-campus in New Orleans, supporting our online students.

The ideal candidate will have motivation, dedication, professionalism, integrity, and enthusiasm for teaching.

Requirements:

• Associate's Degree in a related discipline, Bachelor's degree preferred
• Be a graduate of an education program in surgical technology accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency Posses a credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCAA)
• Have at least 2 years of experience in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology (or a combination of both) within the past 5 years.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills necessary to maintain positive, professional interactions with students, alumni, faculty, and employer partners.
• Experience teaching hands on skills to new surgical technologists or students.

Preferred:

• Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to convey ideas effectively to individuals and groups.

• Demonstrates knowledge of programmatic accreditation and regulatory standards established by CAAHEP for Surgical Technology programs.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time while delivering instruction, grading, or preparing instructional materials.
• Must be able to frequently move around clinical, internship, lab, simulation, and classroom settings, including hospital, healthcare, or professional facility environments, to engage with students, patients, and colleagues.
• Constantly operates office and/or teaching equipment, which may include computers, copiers, medical simulators, patient care equipment, and audio/visual devices.
• Frequently uses voice, vision, and hearing to communicate with students, colleagues, and healthcare professionals in person, over the telephone, or through electronic means.
• Visually or otherwise identify, observe, and assess students' clinical or professional skills, patient/client conditions, and instructional materials.
• Occasionally moves, carries, or lifts up to 25 pounds, which may include instructional materials, equipment, or patient/client-related items.
• Occasionally positions self to assist with patient/client care demonstrations, which may involve bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting or crouching.
