As an integral member of the academic team, the Adjunct Instructor contributes to the strategic goals of the Pharmacy Technician Program by ensuring students are equipped with the knowledge and skills required to excel in diverse healthcare environments.

  • Provide competency-based education that aligns with the College of Health Professions' approved curriculum.
  • Deliver online class instruction and facilitate learner-centered education through distance delivery mechanisms.
  • Enable students to achieve exit competencies and prepare for certification examinations.
  • Teach and explain the varied duties of a pharmacy technician, tailored to different employment settings such as hospitals or retail pharmacies.
  • Instruct students on topics including pharmacology, computer technology, sterile and non-sterile compounding, billing and reimbursement, direct patient care, inventory management, pharmacy law and regulations, and quality assurance.
  • Ensure students understand medication order-entry, refill processes, and medication safety protocols.
  • Conduct labs and skills training in a pharmacy lab to develop clinical mastery.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all state, federal, and accrediting regulations, including ABHES and TWC standards.
  • Maintain faculty files and academic records in adherence to institutional and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to a culture of learning by relating industry experience to academic instruction.
  • Manage the online class environment effectively and encourage student success through proactive engagement.
  • Adhere to academic policies and procedures to ensure compliance and institutional integrity.
  • Other duties as assigned to support program objectives and organizational goals.
  • Certification in Pharmacy Tech (CPhT) and/or a minimum of 3 years of experience in the pharmacy technician field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in a pharmacy setting.
  • Must be an ABHES and TWC-approved instructor.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral, to effectively convey complex concepts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with supervisors, staff, and students.
  • Superior organizational, prioritization, and self-motivation abilities to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and strong computer literacy skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and contribute to cross-departmental synergies.
  • Capacity to adapt to changing assignments and priorities while maintaining high performance standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to listen, understand, and respond positively to stakeholder requests.
