Job Description

Job Title: Adjunct Teaching – Biology – BIO 100 (Salt Lake Center)

Position Start Date: September 2, 2026

Required Degree: MS or higher in Biology or a closely related life science field. Graduate coursework should include substantial preparation in cell biology, genetics, ecology, or evolutionary biology.

Must have required degree by the start date.

Experience: Experience as an instructor of record for a general education life science course preferred. Demonstrated ability to teach scientific inquiry, cell structure and function, genetics, evolutionary theory, and ecological interactions. Experience implementing active learning pedagogy is strongly preferred.

Duties/Expectations: Teach one 3-credit BIO 100 course as assigned by the department. Deliver instruction using course materials aligned with course learning outcomes, with an emphasis on active learning. Assess and evaluate student performance in a timely manner, maintain accurate grade records, and demonstrate improvement informed by student ratings and staff feedback. Hold regular weekly office hours (in-person and/or online). Communicate professionally and consistently with students, faculty, and department staff.

This position will be teaching at the BYU Salt Lake Center in Salt Lake City.
