Job Title: Adjunct Teaching - Asian & Near Eastern Languages - Arabic (ARAB 495)

Posting End Date:  March 14, 2026

Position Start Date: April 28, 2026

Required Degree: MA Degree in Arabic language, linguistics, literature, pedagogy, or a related field.

The required degree must be completed by the start date.

Experience:

Experience teaching Arabic as a second language, preferably at the college level.
Advanced proficiency in English
Proficiency in computer-based software, including Microsoft Office and internet applications.
Experience using Learning Management Systems (LMS), such as BYU's Learning Suite, or the ability to learn such systems quickly.
Willingness to participate in training and professional development in language pedagogy and second-language acquisition.
Familiarity with language-proficiency assessment criteria and experience developing fair and accurate testing procedures.
Knowledge of Second Language Acquisition (SLA) theory and language-teaching pedagogy to develop curriculum materials and lesson plans, particularly in contexts where commercially published instructional materials are limited.

Duties/Expectations:

Teach ARAB 495.
Provide individual and small-group instruction to support student learning and reinforce course content.
Participate in professional development workshops and implement recommendations for instructional improvement.
Develop a course syllabus and upload course materials to BYU Learning Suite.
Respond promptly and professionally to communications and assignments from the Asian & Near Eastern Languages Department.
