Job Description

Job Title:Adjunct Teaching – Theatre & Media Arts – TMA 201: Dramatic Performance: Antiquity to Renaissance.

Position Start Date: April 28, 2026

Required Degree:BA or BFA in Theatre Studies, or a related field.

The required degree must be completed by the start date. 

Experience:1+ years of university-teaching experience in theatre history, theory, and criticism preferred. We are also interested in reviewing applications from candidates who have accomplished notable teaching outside of a university setting.

Duties/Expectations: Successful candidates will teach an undergraduate theatre history course (Antiquity to Renaissance) on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 10-11:50am, during Spring Term, 2026. Students who enroll in this course include those majoring in Acting, Theatre Education, and Theatre Arts Studies, and any BYU student needing the course to satisfy the first half of the university’s G.E. Civilization requirement.

  • We expect you to teach following the provided syllabus.
  • You will be provided a Teaching Assistant, and will be expected to supervise that TA and their work.
  • You will be expected to manage the classroom and also the digital learning management system connected to the class (Learning Suite).
  • You will be expected to hold weekly in-person office hours.
