Administrative Law Judge
Role Summary
The Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) serves a vital role in ensuring fair, impartial, and legally sound administrative adjudication. This position offers the opportunity to apply legal expertise in a structured, fully remote environment while directly supporting due process and public trust. The ALJ is responsible for presiding over hearings, managing evidentiary matters, issuing well-reasoned legal decisions, and guiding parties through the administrative hearing process with professionalism and clarity.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
Conduct administrative law hearings in person or via telephone, ensuring proceedings are fair, orderly, and compliant with applicable laws and regulations
Question witnesses, manage testimony, control the course of hearings, and rule on evidentiary matters
Create and maintain accurate and complete hearing records
Perform legal research and issue timely, well-reasoned, and legally correct written decisions
Provide clear procedural information to parties regarding the hearing process
Assist participants in effectively navigating hearings while maintaining neutrality and judicial integrity
Investigate and respond to customer complaints related to hearings or decisions
Follow up to ensure that issued decisions are properly implemented
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) degree (required; candidates submitted without this credential will not be considered)
Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
Ability to render independent, legally sound decisions
Excellent verbal communication and courtroom/hearing facilitation skills
Ability to manage hearings effectively in a remote environment
Desired Qualifications
Prior experience as an Administrative Law Judge, Hearing Officer, or in administrative adjudication
Knowledge of administrative law procedures and evidentiary standards
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Ability to manage a high volume of hearings while maintaining accuracy and professionalism
Customer-focused communication style with the ability to explain legal concepts clearly
Location & Work Type
Work Type: 100% Remote
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Mountain Time)

Contract Type: 8-week contract-to-hire (conversion fee applies)
