Job Description

The ADMS Technology Engineer plays a critical role in the full technology lifecycle of Advanced Distribution Management Systems. This position is responsible for the design, configuration, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support of software, hardware, and integrated systems that support grid operations. The ADMS Technology Engineer collaborates closely with Analysts, Product Managers, System Operators, and cross functional technical teams to ensure solutions meet all business, functional, and reliability requirements.

The engineer may be assigned to implementation projects or operational support, with responsibilities ranging from building new solution capabilities to maintaining, upgrading, and troubleshooting existing platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze business requirements, operational workflows, and end-user needs to translate them into technical solution designs, system configurations, and implementation plans.

• Perform peer reviews of technical designs, implementation plans, configuration settings, code, and deployment artifacts to ensure accuracy, completeness, cybersecurity compliance, and alignment with enterprise standards.

• Troubleshoot escalated support issues, conduct root cause analysis, and recommend both short-term workarounds and long-term corrective actions.

• Monitor system performance, review operational reports, and ensure ADMS functionality meets defined service levels, reliability expectations, and regulatory or operational standards.

• Support deployment activities for new features, subsystems, modules, upgrades, patches, and defect resolutions across development, test, and production environments.

• Conduct general system troubleshooting, including log analysis, configuration validation, trace review, and verification of recent changes to isolate and resolve issues.

• Document procedures, system configurations, troubleshooting steps, and operational practices to support knowledge transfer and repeatability.

• Perform workstation and server patching (Windows and Linux) and maintain environment readiness for project teams, including command line configuration when required.

• Interpret and work with technical diagrams and documentation such as network topology diagrams, IP/LAN schemas, firewall configuration sheets, server architecture diagrams, and interface definitions.

• Configure workstations, applications, and system components to meet project and operational requirements.

• Communicate clearly with operators, project teams, cybersecurity, network teams, vendors, and other stakeholders regarding system status, issues, and deployment activities.

• Assist end users with system access issues, configuration questions, and functional requests such as login support, password resets, or new feature needs.

• Support application interface testing (e.g., SCADA, OMS, GIS, DMS modules, historian interfaces, ICCP, enterprise data integrations) to ensure data accuracy and availability.

• Create and manage operational and analytical reports (e.g., Power BI dashboards) to support operations and decision making.

• Work within virtualized environments and tools such as VMware vCenter for provisioning, monitoring, and maintaining system resources.
