Adult PsychiatristsWith over 700 employees, Behavioral Health Services (BHS) at Denver Health is a large and rapidly expanding department that provides psychiatric care for patients in community, emergency, inpatient, justice, medical, mobile, and outpatient settings. Job Summary

The Denver Health APP Post-graduate Fellowship in Behavioral Health will provide an intense, well-rounded, 12 months of clinical and didactic training to facilitate a successful career as a behavioral health APP. Fellows will engage in core training in behavioral health to achieve the fellowship’s mission to develop APPs with expertise in the clinical care of patients with psychiatric and substance use disorders. Upon completion of this program, APP fellows will have the knowledge and skills necessary to make them successful practitioners of behavioral health in a variety of clinical settings, and PAs will be prepared to apply for the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) Psychiatry Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ). NPs are required to be board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a PMHNP. Curriculum Experience & Objectives Inter-professional faculty designed an evidence-based curriculum for APPs who successfully completed an accredited physician assistant program or an accredited Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) program. Behavioral health APP fellows will rotate through four core training areas, for three months in each rotation; -Inpatient psychiatry (including Adult and Child/Adolescent Inpatient, Psych Consultation-Liaison (C-L) and Addiction C-L services) -Psychiatric Emergency Services- Corrections- Outpatient Behavioral Health In addition to rotational experience, APP fellows will engage in weekly seminars, case conferences, faculty meetings, and grand rounds. They will participate in journal club meetings in coordination with the didactic schedule and will have one half-day per week dedicated to developing an academic project related to advocacy, community engagement, quality improvement, or scholarly work.  Requirements & Eligibility Criteria for admission include demonstration of empathy, compassion, and excellence in medicine.     Physician Assistant Eligibility/ Requirements:

    • Graduation from an approved Physician Assistant Training Program approved by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC- PA)
    • Official transcript from the PA program
    • Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (PANCE)
    • Colorado license will be required prior to start date
    • DEA license must be obtained within 90 days of starting the program

    Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Eligibility/Requirements:

    • Graduation from an accredited Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) program that is accredited by a nationally recognized organization, such as the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and/or the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
    • Official transcript from the NP program.
    • PMHNP Certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
    • Colorado license will be required prior to start date
    • DEA license must be obtained within 90 days of starting the program
