Job Title: Advanced Practice Provider (APP) (PA/NP), Instructor, Department of Surgery, Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery

Job Summary:

The Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Colorado School of Medicine has a full time, Instructor level faculty position for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.

The candidate will be expected to provide independent clinical services for the plastic & reconstructive surgery team. Close collaboration with the surgeons, hospital and clinic staff will be necessary. This position does not provide cosmetic/aesthetic services to patients. Eligibility for prescriptive authority is required.

This position requires the ability to engage in a full range of body motion including handling patients, manual and fine finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Position also requires standing and walking for extended periods of time as required during the delivery of services. Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids is possible and it is expected that the candidate will be appropriately knowledgeable regarding universal safety precautions. This position may be required to work at multiple UCHealth locations such as University of Colorado Hospital, Highlands Ranch Medical Center and Cherry Creek Medical Center.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist surgeons as primary first assist in OR in reconstructive plastic surgery on adult patients
  • Provide post-operative visits, follow-up appointments, new patient exams, and office procedures (excisions, injections, etc.)
  • Provide ED consultations
  • Manage inpatient plastic surgery patients, including daily rounds, writing of orders, patient assessment, patient education, and discharge
  • Maintain electronic medical records and coordinate care with multi-disciplinary teams.

Work Location:

This position will be required to work onsite and may be required to work at multiple UCHealth locations such as University of Colorado Hospital, Highlands Ranch Medical Center and Cherry Creek Medical Center.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • Current license to practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse and/or Physician Assistant
  • Meets and maintains specific requirements of the Nursing Credential Review Board (Nurse Practitioner) or the Medical Review Board (Physician Assistant).
  • Ability to obtain prescriptive authority (DEA License)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Surgical first assist experience
  • Previous academic experience
  • Previous experience with electronic medical records
