Job Description

- Training & development
- Commit to three months of a consistent schedule at a time.
- Be available to work as scheduled, ensuring consistency for the swimmers.
- Attend all required training and meetings throughout the year.
- Hours and shifts vary; weekly hours range: 1-8 hours.
- Instruct adult and advanced youth swimmers in water safety and swimming techniques, tailoring lessons to meet individual needs and skill levels.
- Provide clear, constructive, and motivating feedback, tracking swimmer progress and offering guidance for improvement.
- Be punctual and reliable; take full responsibility for arranging substitute coverage when unable to work a scheduled shift.
- Be willing and available to cover shifts for other instructors when needed.
- Adhere to all Center policies and procedures, collaborating with other teams to support a high-quality aquatics program and facility.
- Other duties as they pertain to and aid in supporting the ministry's principal objectives.
- Strong instructional and coaching skills, with the ability to adapt lessons to diverse swimmer abilities and goals.
- Excellent communication, delivering feedback that is clear, constructive, and encouraging.
- Ability to create a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment for adults and advanced youth.
- Dependable and professional, demonstrating consistency, punctuality, and accountability in all instructional responsibilities.
- Knowledgeable in aquatic safety protocols and emergency response, maintaining vigilance at all times.
- Collaborative team player, effectively partnering with aquatics staff, center teams, and program leadership to enhance the overall program.
- American Red Cross Lifeguard certification required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a swim instructor or swim coach.
- Preferred certifications include American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, American Red Cross Safety Training for Swim Coaches, and USA Swim Coach Core Curriculum.
- Must be in the water and sun for extended periods.
- Must be able to perform all American Red Cross Lifeguard rescue skills, including but not limited to diving up to 12 feet, treading water for extended periods, CPR, rescue breathing, in-water spinal backboarding, and using an AED.
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds occasionally and 15-20 pounds frequently.
- DOJ background clearance required.
- Must adhere to and model PCC’s Safe Church policies.
