Job Description

Burke's is an independent K-8 gender-inclusive all-girls school located on a 3.5-acre campus in San Francisco. Burke’s is one of California’s leading K-8 schools with a 117-year tradition of educational excellence. Position Description

The After School Teacher plays an important role in creating a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for students in grades K–8 during after-school hours. This position requires a positive and energetic individual who enjoys working with children, is proactive in ensuring safety, and is committed to fostering fun and meaningful experiences.

Burke’s is seeking a positive, energetic candidate to support the after school program. The ideal candidate is collaborative, flexible, adaptable and enjoys working with children aged 5-14 years old. Experience and comfort working with middle school age is highly preferred for this position. Flexible assistance is sought within the days/hours of Monday-Friday, 12:30-6:00pm. Some full-day camp days for pre-determined dates are required. Job Responsibilities include:

  • Welcoming K-8 students after school
  • Supervising the safety of indoor and outdoor environments and with extended time on playground and outdoors
  • Using a walkie talkie to communicate pick-up information
  • Helping to host a welcoming after-school care program for students grade 5-8 while assisting effectively with younger students as needed
  • Leading and creating structured games and activities indoors and outdoors
  • Communicating effectively with Director of After School Programs and colleagues to maintain a positive working environment

Requirements

Position Qualifications

  • Experience working with children (at least 1-2 years)
  • High School Graduate and pursuing higher education
  • Enthusiasm, maturity, good work ethic and enjoys working with children
  • CPR and First Aid certified (or willing to become CPR certified)

Compensation

The After School Teacher is an hourly position. Burke’s offers competitive compensation with a pay range of $29.50 - $31.00 based on years of experience. Comprehensive benefits are provided, including health insurance, and a 7.5% retirement plan contribution for eligible employees.
