Job Description
Ag TechnicianWe are seeking a hardworking and dependable Ag Technician to join our team. This hands-on position is responsible for operating agricultural equipment, transporting and applying manure as an organic fertilizer, and performing routine equipment maintenance. The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors, has strong mechanical abilities, and is comfortable working long hours during busy seasons.Responsibilities
- Safely operate drag-line pumping systems, tank spreaders, and other agricultural equipment.
- Transport, inject, and spread manure according to field maps and application requirements.
- Assist with preventative maintenance and minor repairs on pumps, belts, chains, bearings, and other equipment.
- Troubleshoot basic mechanical issues to minimize downtime.
- Monitor equipment performance and report repair needs.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment run times, manure application rates, and daily activities.
- Prepare documentation for environmental and regulatory compliance, including DNR audits.
- Manage manure storage areas, including stacking, composting, and inventory of materials.
- Work closely with team members to complete daily field operations safely and efficiently.
- Follow all safety procedures and environmental regulations.
- Perform additional agricultural and equipment-related duties as assigned.
- Previous agricultural, farming, heavy equipment, or manure handling experience preferred.
- Experience operating heavy machinery is strongly preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic equipment maintenance and repairs.
- Basic math skills required for measuring, tracking application rates, and maintaining records.
- Ability to read field maps and follow detailed instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license required (CDL is a plus).
- Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform physically demanding work.
- $22.00–$35.00 per hour, based on experience and skills.
- Full-time position.
- Long workdays are common, especially during peak application seasons. Flexibility with hours is required.
