POSITION SUMMARY
The AI Engineering Intern will help build and support AI solutions across teams like Marketing, PR, Digital, Accounting, and more. They will work with our Application Development Team on NLP, Generative AI, virtual assistants, computer vision, and machine learning projects. This intern will gain hands-on experience, mentorship, and the chance to contribute to real innovation at ESRT.
Full-time: 40 hours per week from June 1st, 2026 until August 7th, 2026
Location: Onsite at 111 W 33rd Street, New York NY
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with the App Dev team and related Business Units to design and implement Agentic AI virtual assistant features—leveraging platforms such as Cadastral, Agent Force, and Assist—for leasing and operational projects
- Support the integration of Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, and other AI tools into existing systems to enhance workflow efficiency and user experience for Applications and specific to Data Warehouses
- Research emerging AI technologies and recommend best practices for Agentic AI development across ESRT
- Test and debug AI assistant functionalities to ensure high performance, accuracy, and usability
- Gather and analyze user feedback to improve AI responses, behaviors, and capabilities
- Document technical specifications, workflows, and processes for newly developed AI features
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Solid foundation in Python (preferred) with exposure to Java or JavaScript through coursework or projects
- Working knowledge of AI/ML concepts, including NLP, LLMs (e.g., ChatGPT), and basic chatbot development
- Familiarity with APIs (REST/GraphQL), handling JSON, and integrating data into simple applications
- Basic understanding of data structures, data processing, and small data workflows
- Ability to learn and apply AI tools such as Copilot, CadastreL, AgentForce, and Assist
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Interest in ethical AI and cybersecurity best practices
- Curious, self-motivated learner who stays updated on AI/ML trends
- Able to work independently while seeking guidance when appropriate
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- A Junior enrolled in a four-year or five-year undergraduate program in the graduating class of 2027 in preferred
- Prior experience with software development or AI/ML projects through coursework, internships, or personal projects is preferred
- Industry exposure in Real Estate, Finance, or Travel/Tourism is a plus
- Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric and Microsoft Azure AI Services
- Hands-on project experience in areas such as data architecture, forecasting, recommendation systems, optimization, anomaly detection, inference engines, churn analysis, segmentation, or NLP/LLM model development
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times

Salary is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, job location, size of property where applicable, and/or certifications. In addition to your base salary, ESRT provides discretionary annual bonuses.
