AI Product Engineer

This is a demanding, high-visibility role focused on problems where successful execution matters. The work will require urgency, judgment, and ownership, with direct exposure to leaders acrossVertexand responsibility for products expected to create measurable business impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop deep domainexpertisein customer and internal workflows,operatinglike a forward-deployed product engineer who learns the business, users, data, constraints, and decision paths well enough to design AI products that meaningfully change how the work gets done

• Own theend‑to‑endlifecycleof AI products, from discovery and UX/UI design through development, deployment, and iteration

• Design and buildenterprise web applicationsthat support multiple user personas, workflows, and permissions

• Leadproduct discovery discussionsto understand operational processes, user needs, and business constraints

• Create AI-native product and UX patterns that go beyond traditional software and chat interfaces, including human-in-the-loop review flows, contextual decision support, workflow automation, confidence and escalation experiences, and interfaces for collaborating with intelligent systems

• Build and shipproduction‑gradefull‑stackapplicationsintegrating GenAI/LLM capabilities

Required Qualifications

• 0–3 years of experience inAI product engineering,product-design-focusedfull‑stackengineering, orproduct‑focusedsoftware roles

• Experiencedesigning,owningand shippingend‑to‑end,user‑facingapplications

• Hands‑onexperience integratinggenerative AIinto complex web applications

• Demonstrated experience withproduct design in practice, including UX flows, UI decisions, and enterprise workflow design

• Portfolio required: examples ofAI‑poweredproducts or systems (GitHub repositories, demos, deployed applications, or case studies)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience buildingAI‑poweredenterprise productssuch as internal platforms, SaaS tools, or workflow anddecision‑supportsystems

• Experience designingmulti‑step,non‑linearproduct experiencesfor different user personas

• Familiarity withfrontend frameworks and UX tools(e.g., React, Figma)

• Consulting orcustomer‑facingexperience translating business problems into technical solutions

• Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant professional experience accepted in lieu of a formal degree

• Solo-shipping projects through to launch
