This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a strong understanding of customs brokerage processes who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and file import entries in accordance with U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP) regulations.
  • Review and process documentation including commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading.
  • Classify commodities accurately under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTSUS).
  • Ensure compliance with CBP and PGA requirements (FDA, USDA, EPA, DOT, etc.).
  • Coordinate with importers, carriers, and government agencies to resolve entry issues or delays.
  • Maintain communication with clients regarding entry status, delivery, and release updates.
  • Verify duty rates, valuation, and other regulatory requirements prior to entry submission.
  • Manage entry audits, post-summary corrections, and other compliance-related functions as needed.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in customs entry writing or brokerage.
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. import regulations, HTS classification, and PGA requirements.
  • Proficiency in ABI software
  • Experience with CargoWise a MUST
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Licensed Customs Broker preferred, but not required.

Why Compass Forwarding

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
  • Subsidized health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Paid time off and holidays.
  • Opportunities for professional growth within a long-established, family-owned organization.
