Job Description

Spokane Regional Clean Air Agency is looking for a person with strong interpersonal skills capable of working independently, sometimes in contentious situations. We are seeking qualified applicants to join our inspection team as an Air Quality Specialist I. This position conducts inspections of businesses and asbestos projects, and responds to air pollution complaints. The work setting varies from an office, to industrial and commercial businesses and residences.

We encourage you to apply if you have either:

A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Environmental Policy, Engineering, physical or natural science, or a closely related field; AND, One year of experience in regulatory compliance, inspection, investigation, public or adult education or similar experience; OR,

Five years of experience in regulatory compliance, inspection, investigation, public or adult education or similar experience; OR,

An equivalent combination of college education and/or experience as stated above.

Requirements

Your paycheck is just part of your total compensation. Eligible employees also have access to a competitive benefits package that includes health insurance, retirement, and vacation benefits. The required retirement system of the agency is Washington Public Employee’s Retirement System (PERS) which requires an employee contribution. The agency does not participate in Social Security. However, the agency has adopted an 401(a) and 457 Social Security substitute plan with the same contribution rates as FICA. Washington Public Employee Benefits Program (PEBB) provides health/dental/vision/LTD coverage, which is a pre-tax deduction once a month. Other voluntary benefits are offered as well.
