Job Description

SALARY RANGE

$11.65 - $23.31

WORK ASSIGNMENT DETAILS

Waukesha County Airport is looking to hire up to 24 temporary, part-time workers to perform snow/de-icing duties and other related grounds maintenance work.

This position requires the ability to work in all weather conditions.

Position is an on-call basis spread across two shifts. 7:00am to 7:00pm and 7:00pm to 7:00am.

CLASSIFICATION SPECIFICATION

Example of Duties

  • Operates equipment for snow removal and de-icing under adverse weather conditions. Inspects, maintains, and operates daily assigned equipment to ensure continued safe and efficient operation of the airport.

  • May be called upon at any time to respond to emergency situations such as snowstorms, windstorms, flooding, accidents, fires.

  • Establishes and maintains effective working and public relations with coworkers, airport users, service providers, the public, vendors, and outside agencies.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications, Essential Knowledge and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of occupational hazards and safe work practices.

  • Ability to operate a variety of trucks and equipment necessary for airport grounds maintenance.

  • Ability to perform moderate to heavy manual labor for extended periods under variable weather conditions.

  • Ability to climb in and out of elevated equipment without support several times throughout shift.

  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working and public relations with co-workers, the public, vendors and outside agencies.

  • Ability to effectively interact with sensitivity with persons from diverse cultures, socioeconomic, educational, racial, ethnic, and professional backgrounds, and persons of all ages and lifestyles.

  • Ability to respond at any time to emergency situations such as snowstorms, windstorms, flooding, traffic accidents, and fires.

You must meet these Minimum Training and Experience requirements:

  • High school graduation or GED equivalent.

  • Valid driver's license.

  • Possess mechanical aptitude.

  • Work experience in airport and/or other facility grounds maintenance, and the operation of a variety of related trucks and equipment is highly desirable.

  • Possession of a valid Wisconsin Class B Commercial Driver's License is highly desirable.
