Airport Operations Officer Intern – Security Compliance
Location Dallas, TX 75235 | Onsite
COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE• $22/hour• Monday–Friday, 8:00AM–5:00PM (40 hours/week); rotating shifts (days, evenings, nights, weekends) may be required for training• Internship (Up to 24 Weeks) | W2
ROLE IMPACTThis internship prepares future Airport Operations leaders by providing immersive experience in Aviation Security Compliance at a medium hub commercial service airport. Working under the Manager – Airport Security Compliance, the intern supports regulatory compliance, operational safety, and security initiatives that ensure a safe and secure travel environment. Success in this role means maintaining compliance with federal aviation regulations, responding effectively to operational incidents, and supporting daily airfield and tenant oversight activities.
Key Responsibilities• Conduct airfield inspections, tenant facility audits, and security compliance reviews• Monitor and manage security access points, SIDA (Security Identification Display Area) badges, and vehicle operations using CCTV and access control systems• Investigate security breaches, document findings, and recommend corrective actions• Respond to alerts and emergency situations; coordinate communications to mitigate operational impact• Serve as liaison to tenants and airport users regarding policies, procedures, and security regulations
Minimum Qualifications• Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Aviation Safety, or related field; or senior (final semester) student in an accredited aviation program
• Functional knowledge of FAR Part 139 and TSA 49 CFR 1540/1542 regulations• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and ability to demonstrate functional English language skills per FAA Advisory Circular 150/5210-20• Must pass a TSA background check and pre-employment drug screening• Must be available to work rotating shifts, including evenings, nights, and weekends, as required by the training program
