Job Description

An Operator is responsible for the operation of machinery and equipment used in the production of goods. Their duties include setting up, maintaining, and controlling machinery, conducting tests and repairs, and operating tools to create or transport products.

Operators must be knowledgeable about different parts of the machine and troubleshoot any challenges that may arise.

Location: Alaska

Rotation: 14x14 or 21x21 (days or nights, including weekends and holidays)

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain North Slope access.
  • Forklift and/or Loader Operator certification required or ability to obtain upon hire.
  • Ability to successfully complete all required training and safety certifications.
  • Previous oilfield, construction, heavy equipment, warehousing, or logistics experience preferred.
  • Ability to successfully complete all pre-employment, onboarding, and customer-required clearance requirements, including but not limited to background screening, drug and alcohol testing, medical evaluations, training requirements, and any client-specific access credentials required for North Slope operations.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work rotational schedules in a remote field environment.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and drilling equipment.
  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme Arctic weather conditions.
  • Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, reach, and climb throughout the work shift.

Working Conditions

  • Remote Alaska North Slope drilling location.

The Loader Operator is responsible for the safe operation of forklifts, loaders, and other approved material-handling equipment to support drilling operations, logistics activities, maintenance projects, and rig moves on Alaska North Slope drilling locations. This position plays a critical role in ensuring materials, tubulars, equipment, and supplies are safely transported, organized, and readily available to support efficient rig operations. The Loader Operator works closely with rig crews, trucking contractors, service providers, and operations leadership while maintaining compliance with all Nabors safety, environmental, and operational standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate forklifts, loaders, and approved attachments safely and efficiently.
  • Load, unload, transport, and stage tubulars, drilling equipment, tools, fuel, containers, and other materials.
  • Support rig move, rig-up, rig-down, and maintenance activities.
  • Conduct pre-start inspections and complete all required inspection documentation.
  • Identify, report, and remove unsafe equipment from service when necessary.
  • Assist trucking and third-party service providers with loading and unloading operations.
  • Perform spotting duties and assist with lifting operations as required.
  • Maintain accurate counts of tubulars, materials, and equipment inventories on location.
  • Maintain orderly and organized work areas, equipment yards, and material storage locations.
  • Remove snow, ice, and debris as necessary to maintain safe operating conditions.
  • Participate in Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), safety meetings, and hazard assessments.
  • Follow daily operational plans and supervisor direction.
  • Maintain access control and safe traffic flow on location when assigned.
  • Participate in emergency response, well control, and incident management activities as directed.
  • Comply with all Nabors, customer, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Safety Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate commitment to Nabors' safety culture and Life Saving Rules.
  • Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions exist.
  • Ensure personnel remain clear of operating equipment and suspended loads.
  • Maintain required loader/forklift certifications and qualifications.
  • Report hazards, incidents, near misses, and equipment deficiencies immediately.
  • Participate in safety observations and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Safely operate equipment in Arctic weather conditions and challenging terrain.

  • Ability to safely operate forklifts, loaders, and material handling equipment.
  • Knowledge of safe lifting, rigging, and load securement practices.
  • Understanding of drilling rig operations and logistics support activities.
  • Ability to inspect equipment and identify operating deficiencies.
