Alumni and External Relations Manager, School of Accountancy (part-time 28 hours/week)
The School of Accountancy (SOA) at the BYU Marriott School of Business seeks a strategic, relationship focused professional to lead alumni engagement, external relations, and advisory group operations. This role supports the school's mission to develop Christlike leaders by strengthening connections with alumni, donors, industry partners, and other key stakeholders.
Working closely with the School of Accountancy leadership, college advancement, and university partners, this position drives initiatives that deepen alumni involvement, advance fundraising priorities, and enhance the school's external presence.
What you'll do in this position:
Develop and execute a comprehensive alumni engagement strategy aligned with the School of Accountancy's strategic priorities.
Cultivate and strengthen relationships with alumni, donors, industry partners, and key stakeholders.
Plan and deliver high-impact alumni events, programs, and initiatives, including the annual alumni CPE conference.
Manage operations, strategy, and engagement for the School of Accountancy Board of Advisors and related groups.
Coordinate meaningful interactions between advisory members, faculty, students, and school leadership.
Partner with advancement, marketing, and university teams to support fundraising and external relations efforts.
Oversee alumni communications, outreach initiatives, and production of the school's annual report.
Track engagement outcomes, maintain key relationship data, and provide strategic reporting to leadership.
Supervise student employees and manage program budgets to support alumni and advisory initiatives.
What qualifies you for this role:
Required
A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience totaling 9+ years
Experience in at least one of the following: alumni relations, advancement/development, external relations or stakeholder engagement, nonprofit relationship management, corporate relationship management
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience working with executive-level stakeholders or advisory groups
Demonstrated ability to plan and execute professional events
Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate across teams
Preferred
Master's degree in business (MBA), nonprofit management, higher education administration, communications, or related field and 10+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience totaling 16+ years
Background in accounting or familiarity with the accounting profession
Experience managing a Board of Advisors or similar executive advisory body

Typical Starting Pay: $35.00 to $45.50 an hour
