WHAT YOU'LL DO IN THIS POSITION

This position reports directly to the Law School's Assistant Dean for External Relations and works closely with the Director of External Relations. This membership and communications coordinator is a combination of communications and data management. The primary responsibility of this position is to work with the BYU Law School Alumni Association to fulfill the goals and mission of the organization. This position will also assist the Dean and Director of

External Relations with development, administrative tasks, events, and other special projects. The External Relations team is a small, collaborative group, which requires a high level of flexibility and teamwork. This role supports a variety of projects across the team, and weekly responsibilities may shift based on events, campaigns, and emerging needs. A willingness to step in and help wherever needed is essential to the success of the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and update all Alumni membership records, including correcting existing records, finding lost Alumni, and interfacing with BYU Alumni Association and other on-campus data sources
  • Work directly with BYU Law Communications and IT departments to collaborate on content updates, system changes, and platform improvements
  • Create and send regular and special email campaigns (Alumni Connection)
  • Newsletter, Alumni Leaders & Board, Events, Fundraising)
  • Oversee all Social Media, including LinkedIn and Facebook
  • Support the planning and execution of events, including communications, RSVP management, and follow-up
  • Direct and improve alumni website stories, event links and articles
  • Train, coordinate, and supervise student employees supporting alumni data, communications, social media, and digital platforms
  • Oversee the internal and external Alumni Directory, including the creation of accounts, updates, marketing, and accuracy

WHAT QUALIFIES YOU FOR THIS ROLE?

Required Skills:

  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Sensitivity with confidential records and information
  • Ability to work independently and direct others when required
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Proficient with standard office software (especially Google Apps)
  • Comfort with technology and willingness to learn and adapt to new tools and
  • platforms
  • Experience creating and managing email and digital communication campaigns
  • Familiarity with basic graphic design or digital content tools (especially Canva)

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with CRM database management, including Hivebrite (used for the
  • Alumni Directory), HubSpot, Eventbrite and/or other similar software
  • Competence in writing, proofreading, and editing
  • Experience supporting or coordinating events
  • Demonstrated experience and success with social media and email campaigns
  • Experience working with or supervising student employees

Qualifications:

  • Required: Bachelor's degree or 1-2 years of related experience
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree and 2 or more years of related experience

Pay Level: 49

Typical Starting Pay: $22.50 to $29.25 an hour
