Job Description

Part-time, $16.00 an hour. Paid time off. Free museum passes and discounts. The purpose of this position is to provide prompt, thorough photographic services to Space Camp attendees, documenting the day-to-day camp experience, and to provide a comprehensive picture package to trainees and their parents. Space Camp photographers will be engaged in a variety of photographic assignments including action, candid, natural and artificial light photography, portraiture, among others.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions

Photography Operations

Photograph camp attendees to document the authentic camp experience both indoors and outdoors in a

variety of conditions.

  • Follow photography assignments provided by camp photography leadership thoroughly and with an eye

for detail and organization.

  • Must be able to determine the correct settings for equipment in manual camera mode.
  • Operate and maintain equipment such as cameras, flashes and lenses, and any other auxiliary equipment

designated to complete photo tasks.

  • Cleans and maintains camera equipment.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education

High school or G.E.D.

Required Experience

  • Work Experience: 6-12 months experience in a photography environment required OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Must be detail-oriented and well-organized. Must be

professional and able to work with minimal supervision. Must possess excellent customer service skills.

Technical Experience:

  • Have working knowledge of digital camera systems (Sony mirrorless preferred), various

lenses, and lighting equipment.

  • Must understand the fundamentals of the manual camera settings needed for a variety of photographic situations, including action, low-light, and full sun and be able to maintain proper exposure in an action-based environment.

Physical Requirements

This position has the following special requirements:

  • Walking and climbing (stairs) to access other departments and buildings.
  • Standing for long periods (4-6 hours).
  • Carrying and lifting supplies and boxes up to 25 pounds to waist height.
  • Bending, kneeling, reaching to store & retrieve supplies.
  • Sight, reading, wrist movements, feeling to operate computer terminal, handle documents and sort mail.
  • Talking and hearing to communicate with supervisor(s), employees, guests, and trainees who interact with assigned area of responsibility.

This position involves working partially in a climate-controlled office environment and occasional long periods

outdoors, as assigned. This position interacts extensively with guests and trainees and parents in person.

Eligibility Qualifications

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Expected Hours of Work:

  • First Shift position, requiring a minimum availability of Monday-Friday from 7:00am-3:00pm.
  • Second Shift position, requiring a minimum availability of Monday-Friday from 2:30pm-11:00pm
  • Weekend position, requiring a minimum availability of Friday-Saturday from 7:00am-10:00pm

Evening and weekend availability is preferred.
