Your Role:
Join our team as a compassionate ASL expert, where your expertise in American Sign Language (ASL) will make a profound impact on the lives of our clients. We are seeking an ASL expert to serve as a vital communication facilitator for a deaf individual with developmental disabilities. This role extends beyond basic interpretation, encompassing the empowerment of self-expression, advocacy for personal needs, and facilitating connections with the world around them.
Your Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate Understanding: Ensure seamless and precise two-way ASL interpretation during medical appointments and daily interactions with caregivers.
  • Amplify Voices: Empower our client to articulate their needs, preferences, and choices with clarity and acceptance.
  • Translate with Care: Simplify intricate medical terminology and everyday conversations to ensure comprehension and accessibility.
  • Champion Inclusion: Ensure that the client’s thoughts and perspectives are valued and respected in all interactions.
  • Collaborate for Success: Collaborate closely with a dedicated team to identify and implement effective communication strategies tailored specifically for our client.
Job Description: Caregiver for the IRIS Program
Responsibilities:
  • Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL).
  • Experience working with individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing, particularly those with developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to pass all Wisconsin Department of Human Services (DHS) required caregiver background checks, including registry reviews and mandatory reporting clearance.
  • Patient and empathetic nature, paired with exceptional listening skills.
  • Collaborative mindset, eager to work alongside clients and teams to achieve person-centered goals.
