Job ResponsibilitiesProvide sign language interpreter services
Interpret classroom instruction, conversations, events, and other spoken word situations using American Sign Language or other manual sign systems appropriate for the language and cultural background of the deaf or hard-of-hearing student.Work collaboratively with the special education teacher to plan and organize the instruction.Required Knowledge and SkillsAbility to accurately interpret spoken language to sign language and interpret sign spoken language to spoken language.Knowledge of American Sign Language or other sign systems used by students.Demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills; ability to work independently.Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with students and staff.Required Education and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
Experience working in sign language
Proficiency in American Sign LanguageCompensationThis will be determined based on experience and salary schedule placement.
