Job Description

Neuberger Berman is seeking a Derivative Security Master/Valuations & Middle Office Operations Specialist to support the firm's derivative life cycles and traditional middle office functions. The successful candidate will oversee new derivative setups, ensure valuation accuracy, and collaborate with Portfolio Management teams to facilitate proper order entry for derivatives. This role plays a key part in daily portfolio management and post-trade execution for alternatives, derivatives, and hedge fund strategies. Additionally, the specialist will assist in designing and implementing process improvements for the broader firm and will serve as a primary point of contact for Portfolio Managers.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate daily with Operations, Accounting, Trading, Prime Brokers, and both internal and external Portfolio Managers.
  • Work closely with fund administrators to provide support and oversight for derivative valuations.
  • Perform various daily and monthly reconciliations (e.g., positions, open swaps, cash).
  • Review and process daily cash wires across multiple broker and custodian relationships.
  • Research and resolve books & records exceptions.
  • Monitor Treasury and Collateral Management exposures.
  • Investigate and resolve issues arising from P&L reporting.
  • Maintain counterparty metrics, costs, and financing rates.
  • Assist management with system automation projects (STP), efficiency initiatives, and risk mitigation.
  • Serve as a central point of contact for internal clients (Portfolio Managers/Traders).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 3-5 years of relevant industry experience in derivatives and middle office operations within asset management, hedge funds, or prime brokerage environments.
  • Working knowledge of operational aspects of fixed income products, cash, OTC derivatives, and their settlement mechanisms.
  • Detailed understanding of P&L components across all security types.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills; ability to prioritize and multitask effectively.
  • High attention to detail and accountability.
  • Ability to implement tasks and projects with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with external service providers.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, with advanced Excel skills strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of BlackRock Aladdin preferred.
  • Team player with high energy, self-starter attitude, and the ability to foster team spirit in a global setting.
  • Familiarity with Charles River and Eze is a plus.

Compensation Details

The salary range for this role is $75,000-$100,000. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in the job posting location. An employee's pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, business sector, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, market benchmarking data, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. This job is also eligible for a discretionary bonus, which, along with base salary and retirement contributions, is part of our total comprehensive package. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, retirement, life insurance and other benefits to eligible employees.
