ANESTHESIA DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

Remote-Centric Hybrid

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Anesthesia Operations serves as a strategic and operational leader responsible for overseeing all aspects of anesthesia service delivery across the organization. This role drives the negotiation and management of anesthesia agreements, develops financially sound compensation models, supports new acquisitions, and partners with cross‑functional teams to ensure effective onboarding, contract alignment, and operational excellence. The Director leverages market insights, financial analysis, and strong relationship‑building skills to optimize performance, enhance cost efficiency, and support the long‑term growth of the anesthesia service line.

Work Schedule: REMOTE (Travel up to 20%)

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead negotiation and execution of anesthesia provider contracts, including stipends, compensation structures, and partnership arrangements, ensuring alignment with financial and operational goals.
  • Collaborate with FP&A to request, review, and interpret pro formas that support contract decisions, acquisitions, and anesthesia service expansion.
  • Work closely with Legal, Accounting, and Treasury to establish new anesthesia entities, finalize agreements, and ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational requirements.
  • Develop, refine, and implement enterprise-wide anesthesia compensation models, partnering with Legal and executive leadership to ensure scalability and sustainability.
  • Drive cost‑optimization initiatives through competitive bidding, market evaluation, and engagement with local resources, market development teams, and external anesthesia business partners.
  • Partner with Business Development to support new acquisitions by presenting anesthesia delivery models, sharing market insights, and evaluating financial impacts.
  • Evaluate and monitor all existing anesthesia agreements to ensure operational effectiveness, financial performance, and adherence to the core operating model.
  • Lead coordination with CBO teams to support onboarding, billing alignment, and integration of anesthesia services across facilities.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain to ensure anesthesia contracts are accurately uploaded, tracked, and renewed in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain strong market relationships, staying current on industry trends, benchmarks, and best practices to support strategic decision‑making.
  • Provide executive‑level communication and presentations, including board briefings, financial summaries, and strategic recommendations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred
  • Experience: 7+ years in a healthcare, operations, or relevant role directly working with Anesthesia
  • Skills: Proficiency in Anesthesia RCM; strong communication and leadership capabilities; financial acumen; negotiation strategies and global market awareness.
