The technician also supports inventory management, quality control inspections, and technical mentoring of departmental staff.

  • Use calibrated equipment to test vaporizers, ensuring precise agent delivery and confirming output matches the labeled settings. Perform cleaning, servicing, and adjustments on vaporizers to restore accurate calibration, and complete and submit all required calibration certificates.
  • Follow engineering drawings, assembly instructions, and quality control checklists for all fabricated items, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed prior to releasing them to inventory.
  • Compare purchase orders with received goods, identify any discrepancies, and notify the buyer for necessary payment adjustments.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records, service, and repair activities, tracking both the addition and deactivation of equipment in the inventory management system.
  • Serve as final QC authority for all medical equipment repairs within the assigned warehouse area.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and precepting to other technicians and departmental employees.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and participate in technical training to enhance skills
  • Ensure all equipment meets applicable standards (AAMI, ASTM, NFPA 99, FDA, and facility policy) before being placed into service.
  • Support regulatory audits and accreditation inspections by providing complete and accurate maintenance documentation.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree (A.A.) or technical certification in Electronics, Biomedical Equipment Technology, or a related field preferred
  • 2+ years of related manufacturing assembly, testing, or troubleshooting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, including experience with refurbishing, assembling, cleaning, and prepping medical equipment.
  • Advanced knowledge of medical devices and instrumentation, including troubleshooting and repairing complex equipment such as patient monitors and electrosurgical units.
  • Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware/software, including applications and programming.
  • Proficiency with precision hand tools, torque tools, and a variety of test equipment, including power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes, leak detection and vacuum systems, pressure generators, voltmeters, ohmmeters, ovens, soldering equipment, and microscopes.
  • Must have soldering experience to perform basic mechanical assembly tasks and rework on units.
  • Understanding of quality control and inspection protocols, with experience conducting both incoming and outgoing inspections.
  • Experience with inventory management, including inventory tracking systems and barcoding processes, as well as technical documentation involving documenting deficiencies, estimating repairs, and coordinating assessments for used goods.
