Complete Description:SPECIFICRESPONSIBILITIES:

Underlimited direct supervision:

20% Assist in the care of patients undergoing anesthesiaincluding: preparation of anesthesia equipment prior to the patient s arrival,placement of anesthesia monitors, ensuring the cleanliness of anesthesiaequipment, ensuring availability of specialized anesthesia equipment andsupplies and the set-up of medications and supplies where applicable. Continuouslycommunicate with anesthesiologists, residents, CRNAs and anesthesia technologiststo ensure their needs are met throughout the day. Assist clinicians with difficult intubationsand the placement of central line catheters.

20% Operate the cell-savermachine, keep track of lab reports, and participate in cardiac, liver transplant, vascular,thoracic, trauma, and other advanced surgical cases. Work directly with service-specificfaculty Division Chief of designated specialty.Provide on-call coverage.

20% Provideprimary support in ensuring that the anesthesia equipment is in good workingorder and preventive maintenance is completed.Set up and operate sophisticated equipment and perform advancedtroubleshooting. Serve as the key resource person in using and maintainingspecialized equipment.

15% Assistthe Chief Anesthesia Technologist in the development and implementation ofin-service training programs. Assist in training of staff in the roles andresponsibilities of an anesthesia technologist.

15% Performanesthesia equipment set up and troubleshooting such as testing Infusion pumps,nerve stimulators, defibrillators, and transport monitors, calibratinganesthesia machines, and attaching fiberoptic bronchoscopes to the videomonitor.

5% Set-up rooms betweencases, set-up carts throughout the day and provides full service set up at theend of the day. Work with other hospitalunits to ensure availability of specialized anesthesia equipment. Performset-up and support of ectopic procedures for anesthesia care ensuring properequipment is in place for out-of-OR procedures.

5% Provide back up to shift supervisorin his/her absence due to vacation or illness.Perform other duties as assigned by the Shift Supervisor, ChiefAnesthesia Technologist, or Operations Manager.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

BLS

Twoyears of experience as an Anesthesia Tech

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Afour year college education, including related technical training; or a twoyear college education which included technical training closely related tothis position and two years of experience; or an equivalent combination ofeducation and experience.

Certificationby the registry of the American Societyof Anesthesia Technologists or other nationally recognized professional certifying bodypreferred.
