Sinai- Surg Room Schedule is Mon-Fri 0630-1500. Weeknight, weekend, and holiday call divided among current techs.

General Information• Beds: 14• CST/AT: 2-3 years• First time traveler: Yes with 3 years of OR experience• Avg Cases per day: 20-23• GYN Teaching facility• Team works across all specialties
Patient Types:• Top 3: Ortho, GYN, General• General (cholecystectomy, appendectomy)• Bariatrics (robotic, laparoscopic)• 35% of cases are ortho (total joint, sports medicine, ACDF, laminectomy, microdiscectomy)• Plastics (breast reconstruction, total, biopsy)• Urology (TURPS, cystoscopy, aquablation)• GYN (ruptured ectopic, total hysterectomy, D&C, hysteroscopy)• Robotic: Davinci XI (experience required)• Striker Mako Robot for Joint replacement (knee mostly)• No neuro, complicated spine, baby deliveries
Covid & PPE:• All patients tested 72 hr prior to procedure• Urgent, Emergent Case: rapid testing• COVID up to the surgeon's decision
Patient Ratios: 1:1
Required Certifications:• Anesthesia Tech:• Required: BLS, completion of accredited AT program• Preferred: ASATT
Skills required Anesthesia Tech: Required: Difficult IV access, experience with L&D, IR, GI
Support on the Unit: Anesthesia monitors tele at bedside
Charge nurse: Shift 1: No patient assignment Shift 2: Occasional patient assignment at end of the day
Leadership Lead: takes patient assignment OR Educator
Charting System/Equipment:• EPIC (required)• Alaris• Pyxis• iStat- Hemochron• C-Arm: Client (staff not responsible for running machine, only setup)
Floating:• RN:• If low census, will float inpatient• Taskers, sitters• Will not take patient assignment• Optional: St. Luke's South Shore, Grafton, West Allis
Orientation:• 3-5 days of orientation (8 hrs)• 1st day- Meet with NM, Educator (CBLs, Badge, Login Access, etc.)• Remainder of shift with preceptor on unit• 2nd 5th day-orientation on unit with preceptor
Scheduling:• Anesthesia Tech:• Monday-Friday• 0630-1500• Will not flex before 0600• Based on surgical schedule• Weekend rotation: On-Call
On-Call:• M-F (based on needs)• EOS-0630• Weekend (Sat- Sun)• 0630-0630• Based on needs
RTO: Able to approve up to 7 days; additional days- email NM, Maureen Halloran
