Job Description

Summary

The Animal Welfare Coordinator supports the procurement and animal welfare teams by managing the purchasing and delivery of live hogs to meet contract requirements while ensuring adherence to animal welfare standards. This role involves coordinating with producers, transporters, and logistics teams while ensuring accurate tracking, communication, and data entry related to livestock loads.

Key Responsibilities

- Coordinate and verify incoming livestock shipments (loads, rates, transport details) with a focus on animal welfare compliance

- Track and update load activity in procurement systems

- Communicate changes and updates to management and stakeholders

- Collect and organize load and supplier information

- Perform data entry and maintain accurate records

- Support reporting, scheduling, and weekly summaries

- Assist with training, compliance monitoring, and animal welfare standards (including TQA)

- Build and maintain strong relationships with producers and partners

Requirements

- High school diploma or equivalent (livestock/meat facility experience preferred)

- Basic to moderate computer skills (Microsoft Office)

- Strong communication, organization, and multitasking abilities

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and interact with diverse teams

- Must be at least 18 years old; bilingual is a plus

- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks

- Effective written and verbal communication

- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions

Other duties as assigned.

Train all employees in the barn and butina on humane handling practices.

Education and/or Experience

AA/AS Degree or knowledge equivalent to.

and/or

2 years of experience in an animal welfare role.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from internal and external customers.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions from multiple sources.

Excellent written and oral communication skills with a desire and proven ability to communicate with people at all knowledge levels.

Must be able to travel up to 25% travel , may have a few non-overnight stays.
